Bulldogs Renew Rivalry with UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. - The Bulldogs take their final detour from conference action with a road trip to Northern California and a Saturday night non-conference "BracketBuster" date at 7 p.m. with the UC Davis Aggies. This marks the first meeting between the schools since 1983.

UC Davis sports a 12-14 season record as a member of the Big West Conference. Sixth-year head coach Gary Stewart holds a 63-105 tally at the school. Vince Oliver paces the Aggies with 16.0 ppg. The Aggies are 6-4 in their last nine games.

Fresno State leads the overall series with UC Davis, 37-18. The Bulldogs hold a 10-game winning streak over the Aggies and have won 17 of the last 18 meetings. The schools last met on Dec. 1, 1983 when Fresno State defeated UC Davis, 92-49.

The University of Nevada sits at 16-10 for the year and 8-4 in WAC play. Freshman forward Luke Babbitt leads the second-place Wolf Pack with 16.2 ppg and 7.4 rpg. Nevada was picked to finish first in the WAC by the coaches and media preseason poll.

Fresno State trails the overall series with Nevada, 44-34. Fresno State closed a 15-point deficit midway through the second half before falling 65-60 to Nevada in Reno in the first meeting between the schools this season on Jan. 17, 2009. The Bulldogs last beat the Wolf Pack in Fresno on Jan. 18, 2006 with an 87-77 conference victory.
LAST GAME: Golubovic Nets Career-High 15 Points on National TV
In an ESPN2 WAC showcase, Fresno State welcomed a season-high 9,830 fans for a hard-fought battle that ended in a 73-69 defeat to the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors on Thursday night. Sophomore forward and Academic All-American candidate Nedeljko Golubovic scored a career-high 15 points for the Bulldogs, incluidng four 3-pointers.
LAST WEEK: George Leads `Dogs Past Broncos; Rough Road Trip
Freshman guard Paul George torched the nets and glass for a career-high 29 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for his sixth career double-double as Fresno State beat Boise State, 88-82. Junior forward Sylvester Seay added 23 points. Fresno State finished the week with a pair of road conference losses - at Louisiana Tech (55-42) and New Mexico State (79-71 in overtime). Freshman guard Mychal Ladd earned his second career double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds against the Aggies.
Golubovic Named First-Team Academic All-District 8
Nedeljko Golubovic, a sophomore originally from Pljevlja, Serbia, earned an exclusive spot on the First-Team Academic All-District 8 team and now is on the ballot to be selected as an Academic All-American. This is believed to be the first such honor for a Fresno State men's basketball student-athlete in the history of the program. Golubovic earned a cumulative 3.76 grade point average in his three semesters at Fresno State, including a distinction on the President's List during the Fall 2007 semester for a perfect 4.0 GPA. Golubovic's selection puts him in an elite group, as he was the only University Division student-athlete from a California college and the only representative from a Western Athletic Conference school to earn recognition.

`Dogs Top Conference in 3-Point Shooting and Home Attendance
As of Feb. 21, Fresno State topped the Western Athletic Conference in 3-pointers made (6.89 per game) and home attendance (8,895 per game) while sitting in second place for blocked shots (4.74 per game) for the season. Freshman guard Paul George leads the league in 3-point shooting by hitting 53 of 115 attempts from beyond the arc this season. Junior forward Sylvester Seay is second in the WAC in conference games by averaging 17.5 points per game.
