In an ESPN2 WAC showcase, Fresno State welcomed a season-high 9,830 fans for a hard-fought battle that ended in a 73-69 defeat to the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors on Thursday night. Sophomore forward and Academic All-American candidate Nedeljko Golubovic scored a career-high 15 points for the Bulldogs, incluidng four 3-pointers. In the Bulldogs' final non-conference game of the regular season, Seay notched his third straight 20-plus scoring night and freshman guard Mychal Ladd earned his third career double-double as Fresno State beat UC Davis 71-70 on the road Saturday night for the Bulldogs' 11th straight win over the Aggies. Four Bulldogs reached double figures for the eighth time this season. Seay led the `Dogs with 20 points, followed by Ladd's 14, freshman guard Bryce Cartwright's 13, and Golubovic's 10.
Golubovic Named First-Team Academic All-District 8
Nedeljko Golubovic, a sophomore originally from Pljevlja, Serbia, earned an exclusive spot on the first-team Academic All-District 8 team and now is on the ballot to be selected as an Academic All-American. This is believed to be the first such honor for a Fresno State men's basketball student-athlete in the history of the program. Golubovic earned a cumulative 3.76 grade point average in his three semesters at Fresno State, including a distinction on the President's List during the Fall 2007 semester for a perfect 4.0 GPA. Golubovic's selection puts him in an elite group, as he was the only University Division student-athlete from a California college and the only representative from a Western Athletic Conference school to earn recognition.
