Fresno State Garners No. 12 Ranking

FRESNO, Calif. - ITA Tennis released its national team rankings on Tuesday, and the Fresno State women's tennis team moved up three spots to No. 12 in the country.
The Bulldogs went 2-0 last week in National Team Indoors qualifying matches with wins against two nationally ranked teams. Fresno State first beat Denver, previously the No. 28 team in the country, and then the next day beat Vanderbilt, which was ranked 12th at the time.
"We are happy with how we started the season by getting two quality wins," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "The ranking is nice, but we know we have to keep getting better along the way, and that is our main focus at this time."
The two victories earned Fresno State a spot at the National Team Indoors Sweet 16 held in Madison, Wisc. on Feb. 13-16.
Northwestern received the No. 1 ranking, and the top 11 teams remained unchanged. Boise State is the only other ranked WAC team at No. 38.
The Bulldogs take the court again on Feb. 7 against Rice at 6 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
