FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State begins a four-game road trip this weekend when they travel to first-place Nevada on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs then play at San Jose State on Sunday at 7 p.m. Both games can be heard live on 790 ESPN Radio.
Scouting the Wolf Pack
Nevada is 13-7 and 7-0 in WAC play. Dellena Criner leads the Pack in scoring at 15.1 points a game. Cherlanda Franklin leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game. Nevada is averaging 62.8 points a game and shooting 38 percent from the floor.
Bulldogs vs. Nevada
Fresno State leads the overall series 24-8. The Bulldogs have won four of their last five meetings against Nevada. Last year, the Bulldogs won 81-49 in Fresno and 82-68 in Reno.
Winning Big
Fresno State's last 10 wins have been by an average of 21.8 points a game. The Bulldogs only two wins by under 10 points were against No. 22 TCU (75-71) and Utah State (68-59).
Stingy Defense
The 29 points scored by Cal State Northridge was the fewest points the Bulldogs have allowed in a game since a 53-22 victory over Cal Poly in the 1974-75 season. In the win the Bulldogs held the Matadors to 20 percent shooting from the field and allowed only 12 field goals. The 29 points Northridge scored is the fewest points an opponent has scored against any WAC school this season. Fresno State has held three opponents to under 30 percent shooting from the field for the game and held UNLV, Cal State Northridge and San Jose State to under 20 points in the first half.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 149 3-pointers on 363 attempts in her short career at Fresno State. The 149 three's puts her in fourth place on the Career 3-point Field Goals leaders. She needs 40 3-pointers to pass Connie Krueger (1996-99) and move into third place. Her .410 3-point field goal percentage ranks her first on the career 3-point field goal percentage Top 10 list.
Love The Three Ball
Fresno State is scorching the nets from behind the arc once again. Last year the team hit a school record 262 3-pointers and attempted a school record 762 three's. Jaleesa Ross tied the single season 3-point record by hitting 89 last season. The Bulldogs are already 207-595 from the 3-point line and shooting 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs hit 13 3-pointers in the season opener against Cal-State Bakersfield and against TCU. Dating back to last year the Bulldogs have 10 3-pointers or more in a game in 27 different games. After 21 games last year the Bulldogs were 161-470 from the 3-point line and after 22 games they were 171-495 from beyond the arc.
