FRESNO, Calif. - The 2009 season officially opens for the Fresno State softball team as they take on the Badgers of Wisconsin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 followed by a game with the Rams of Fordham at 8 p.m. Live stats will be provided for both games on gametracker at www.gobulldogs.com and live radio streaming of the Wisconsin game can be found on the all access page.
"It's exciting because we haven't played a real game yet," said freshman Brittnee Rodgers. "All of the freshmen are really looking forward to playing at the college level. Everyone is excited to travel for the first time. We have been practicing every day so everyone is excited to actually go play in a tournament."
The Cathedral City Kick-Off will be played at the Big League Dreams Park and features 16 teams, four ranked (Cal, Fresno State, Long Beach State and Houston). The Bulldogs will also face Liberty, Houston and Cal State Northridge on the weekend. Fresno State has never faced Liberty or Fordham.
This will be the first of two tournaments the Bulldogs will participate in at the Big League Dreams Park in three weeks.
"We are really looking forward to playing a game," said head coach Margie Wright. "We've been practicing since September and I think everyone is just really excited about playing another team."
