Bulldogs Play a Strong Second Half at Cincinnati

FRESNO, Calif. - After a slow first half where the Fresno State women's lacrosse team trailed 12-1 at halftime, the Bulldogs came out strong in the second half and scored two goals but still lost to the University of Cincinnati 18-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Cincinnati is now 5-3 while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-6.
"We came out very flat in the first half," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "We played a very good second half and we found that fire again. We created a lot of scoring opportunities in the second period. I am proud of them. We fought hard."
The Bulldog goals were scored by Emily Erwin, Molly Sovacool and Aja Scheuber. It was the second goal of the season for Scheuber and Sovacool while Erwin tallied her first goal of the season. Erwin scored her goal with 2:53 to play in the first half. Sovacool added her goal with 15:24 to play in the second half and Scheuber scored on a free position shot with 4:55 to play in the contest.
Coach Behme was also pleased with how team played the draw controls as they won the battle, 12-11.
"Join the State - Fresno State"- The Bulldogs return to the field on March 27 when they play at the University of Detroit at 1 p.m. Pacific Time. Fresno State returns to Bulldog Stadium on April 4 at 1 p.m. against fellow Mountain Pacific Sports Federation member Saint Mary's.
