Bulldogs Attempt a Season-High 17 Shots

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team attempted a season-high 17 shots but it still wasn't enough as the Bulldogs lost 17-3 to the University of Detroit on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs are 0-7 while Detroit improved to 3-5.
"All our numbers are better across the board," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "They capitalized on our mistakes. We are not capitalizing on the extra effort it takes to get the ball back."
Fresno State had season-highs in nearly every statistical category as it had 17 shots, 30 ground balls while causing 11 turnovers. Detroit had 27 turnovers for the game. The draw control battle was close as Detroit won it 13-9.
The `Dogs scored their three goals in the first half and trailed 11-3 at the break. Emily Erwin scored the first goal with 10:43 to play in the first half to cut the Detroit lead to 8-1. Heather Jack then connected on free position shot to make the score 8-2 with 5:08 to play until the break. Aja Scheuber tallied the final goal with 2:29 left in the period, making the score 9-3.
Jack had five shots on goal and Erwin had four. Diana Aguilar and Kohl Berry combined for eight saves.
The Bulldogs return to the field on Sunday at 8 a.m. Pacific time when the play Presbyterian College at the University of Detroit.
