FRESNO, Calif. - It's a big weekend for the Fresno State softball team! Not only do the `Dogs host Nevada in an important Western Athletic Conference series Friday and Saturday, but Friday night is Softball History/Free Ice Cream Night at Bulldog Diamond!
The `Dogs take on Nevada at 6 p.m. that night but fans are encouraged to get to the field early to participate in pre-game activities.
All fans that enter the gates when they open at 5 p.m. will receive a free sample of Fresno State ice cream! The ice cream is made on the Fresno State campus at the Dairy and is sold at the Farmer's Market, but fans can get a free taste this week.
Fresno State employees spent three hours last week scooping, packaging and labeling the ice cream, vanilla and chocolate flavors, into sample cups.
Passing out the ice cream at the main gate will be none other then former Fresno State softball players. Once fans collect their ice cream they are encouraged to roam the concourse to get autographs of the former softball greats.
The autograph session will last until approximately 5:45 p.m. and then all former players will be honored on the field prior to first pitch.
Those who will return include: Jenna Cervantez, Lindsay Milchovich, Angela Cervantez, Nina Lindenberg, Becky Witt, Rosie Garcia, Kim Mecum and approximately 20 others throughout the 31-year history of the program.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The `Dogs return for the last WAC home series as they host Nevada April 17-18. The `Dogs and Wolf Pack play Friday night at 6 pm and close out the series with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon starting at 1 pm. Friday is Softball History Night and former softball student-athletes will be on hand to sign autographs. Every fan will also receive FREE ice cream. Saturday is Senior Day as the softball seniors are honored for their dedication to Fresno State softball.
