Bulldogs Play Strong Second half

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team played its best half of the season on Tuesday against St. Bonaventure as the `Dogs allowed a season-low three goals in the second half but the Bulldogs still fell 17-4 on a freezing afternoon with snow on the ground in Alfred, N.Y.
"We played a good 40 minutes today," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "We played in adverse conditions today with the weather. We arrived last night around 11 p.m. and played a game this afternoon with snow and 20 degree weather. We played excellent defense in the second half."
Molly Sovacool led Fresno State with two goals while Emily Erwin had one goal and Heather Jack added another goal.
Sovacool scored the first goal of the game in the first minute to give Fresno State a 1-0 lead. St. Bonaventure then scored the next two goals before Emily Erwin tied the game at two at the 25:21 mark of the half. St. Bonaventure put the game away in the final 23 minutes of the first half as they scored 12 goals to lead 14-2 at halftime.
The Bulldogs two goals in the second half came from Jack seven minutes into the second period and Sovacool with 14 minutes left in the game.
Fresno State had 14 shots, eight coming in the second half. The `Dogs won the battle of draw controls, 12-10.
"Join the State - Fresno State" - Fresno State returns to the field on Thursday at 1 p.m. when it plays at Johns Hopkins. The Bulldogs also play at Howard at 7 a.m. Pacific Time. Fresno State returns to Bulldog Stadium on Monday, April 13 at Noon when they play host to the University of Denver.
