FRESNO, Calif. - Practice has begun for the 2010 Fresno State softball team as they officially walked onto the field at Bulldog Diamond at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning for their first double day practice.
The team will practice twice a day until school begins on Jan. 21 and then just once a day in the evenings after classes are out.
The first game is a month from today as the `Dogs host Santa Clara at 6 p.m. for a doubleheader.
The day started out with a team meeting followed by stretches and warm ups. Fielding and throwing drills were then conducted in the infield and outfield. The team got some hitting done on the field before the rain pushed the `Dogs inside.
The `Dogs got to use their brand new indoor batting cage facility for hitting and live pitching in the afternoon.
"It was a fun day," said senior outfielder Brooke Phipps. "It was sort of bittersweet just knowing that this first day of practice was my last day to start things off. I'm excited to be back out here with the team, we missed it. We learned a lot today about just being on top of things. It rained a lot today so it gave us time to talk to Coach about mental things and to build our relationships with each other."
"We Are Your Team" - The 2010 Fresno State softball season begins at Bulldog Diamond on Friday, Feb. 12 with a doubleheader vs. Santa Clara beginning at 6 p.m. Season tickets go on sale Jan. 13.
