FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State and KMJ Radio (580 AM) announced the dates for the 2010 baseball games to be aired. Paul Loeffler and Ray O'Canto will once again call Bulldog baseball games and will broadcast 27 home games, 15 road games and all the post season games.
"Having the platform and power of KMJ as the flagship for Fresno State Baseball and the Bulldog Sports Network is a part of the success of this program," said Associate Athletics Director of External Relations Paul Ladwig. "There is not a better station in the country that carries college baseball. We are fortunate to have Paul and Ray as the voices for the Bulldogs, Coach Batesole and the team are in excellent hands again this season."
KMJ Sports Director, Loeffler, begins his 10th season as the voice of Bulldog baseball. He also handles the play calling for all the men's basketball games and Bulldog football games.
"Being involved with Bulldog baseball has been a big blessing and I can't believe it's my tenth season in the booth already, but I'm definitely as excited as I was going into year one," said Loeffler. "With two preseason All-Americans in the lineup and a promising pitching staff, not to mention an upgraded non-conference schedule, I think the 'Dogs are primed for a special season. I'm delighted to team up again with Ray O'Canto, and thrilled that KMJ will be bringing the Bulldogs' most important ballgames to listeners all over the state."
O'Canto was an all-conference (NCBA) outfielder for the Bulldogs in 1981, and is in his third year as color commentator.
KMJ and Fresno State have been partnered for over 35 years as the station has covered numerous Bulldog sports over the years, including football, basketball and volleyball.
KMJ will broadcast eight of the 10 double-headers on this season's schedule. They will be at Beiden Field for the season opener (Feb. 19) against Nebraska. They will also broadcast home games against Oregon, Loyola Marymount, UC Davis, Louisiana Tech, San Jose State and Sacramento State. The KMJ crew will travel too: Washington, Hawai'i, Nevada, New Mexico State, WAC Tournament in Mesa, Ariz. and any other post season games.
"We Are Your Team" - The `Dogs begin the quest for their fifth consecutive WAC title and NCAA Tournament berth Friday, February 19, at 6 p.m. as they welcome the Nebraska Cornhuskers to Beiden Field. Season tickets are available and can be purchased through the Bulldog Ticket Office, gobulldogs.com or by calling 278-DOGS.
