Bulldogs fall to Cal Poly on Tuesday night

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State Baseball dropped a 10-4 decision to Cal Poly on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cal Poly struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning and added a solo home run in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. Fresno State responded in the bottom half of the fifth, loading the bases before Griffen Sotomayor delivered a two-run single through the left side to cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Mustangs broke the game open in the sixth. After an error extended the inning, Ryan Tayman launched a grand slam to push Cal Poly's lead to 7-2.
The Bulldogs answered again in the seventh. Jett Ruby sparked the rally with a single, Owen Faust followed with an RBI double, and Sotomayor added another RBI on a groundout to trim the margin to 7-4.
Cal Poly, however, added insurance in the eighth and two more runs in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
