`Dogs Continue Trip Against La Tech

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team scored a goal late in the match to even out the score, but New Mexico State answered with the game-winning goal minutes later. The Bulldogs lost by a final score 2-1 to the Aggies Friday night. The `Dogs are 4-8-2 on the season and have a conference mark of 0-3.
In the first half the Bulldogs outshot the Aggies 4-2. Senior Claudia Cardenas led the team in shots with a total of five on the night.
NMSU scored first in the 11th minute of the match. Dani De La Vina stole the ball and scored from 20-yards out giving the Aggies the early lead.
In the second half junior Kendall VanDine evened the score with her first career goal. Cardenas took a shot and VanDine scored on the rebound. Cardenas has three assists on the season, which is the most on the team.
The Aggies regained the lead after Mary Kate Koizol scored on a penalty kick with six minutes remaining in the game. Koizol's goal proved to be the game-winning goal for New Mexico State.
The `Dogs outshot the Aggies 13-9 and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel recorded three saves.
The Bulldogs continue the WAC road trip against Louisiana Tech on Sunday, Oct. 17.
"We Are Your Team" The Bulldogs play Louisiana Tech on the road on Oct. 17 before returning home for two WAC games. The `Dogs host Utah State on Oct. 22 and Nevada on Oct. 24. Admission to all Fresno State soccer games is free.
