`Dogs Swim Competitively

FRESNO, Calif. - Freshman Michelle Dockendorf stood out for the Bulldogs in her first career swim meet as a division one student-athlete.

Dockendorf who is from Santa Barbara, Calif. placed fourth in the 400 IM and eighth in the 100 Breast, scoring crucial points for the `Dogs.
"We had a good first day and I am really pleased," said head coach Jeanne Fleck of day one of the two-day UOP Invite. "The freshman swam really well. Michelle Dockendorf and Brittany Buna both swam career best 400 IM times that were also faster than anyone last year."
The freshman from Canada, Brittany Buna placed fifth in the 400 IM and seventh in the 1650 free. This was her first experience swimming a course in yards as opposed to meters, and she showed that she will be a solid swimmer for the Bulldogs.
"We are making progress and were very competitive today," said Fleck.
The'Dogs are competing against Washington State, Pacific and BYU of the Mountain West Conference. The UOP Invite continues tomorrow to conclude their two-days of season opening competition.
