Fresno State Hosts Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Five women's teams from California, Nevada and Oregon will assemble in Fresno, Calif. this weekend for the Bulldog Classic on Friday-Sunday. Competing this weekend includes, Portland State, Nevada, Pacific and host Fresno State.

This will be the Dogs 14th year hosting the Classic.
The last time the Dogs hosted the Bulldog Classic was in September 2007. At the time, seeded-second and 47th-ranked sophomore Anastasia Petukhova captured the 2007 Bulldog Classic singles title. Petukhova beat Fresno Pacific's Anna Karavayeva 6-3, 6-1, completing the tournament without dropping a set.
The Classic is set up in a hidden dual format and will allow players to compete in five singles and five doubles matches. On Friday, competing in doubles are Portland State v. Fresno State and Pacific v. Nevada. In singles, Fresno State v. Pacific and Portland State v. Nevada. On Saturday, Fresno State will take on Nevada and Portland State competes against Pacific for doubles. In singles, Fresno State v. Portland State and Nevada v. Pacific. On Sunday's doubles, Fresno State v. Pacific and Portland State v. Nevada and in singles, Fresno State v. Nevada and Portland State v. Pacific.
Approximately 26 players are involved and play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Sunday and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
On Friday and Sunday the teams will compete at Fresno State's Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. On Saturday the teams move the competition to the Sierra Sport Racquet Club.
Directions to Sierra Sport Racquet Club: from Highway 41take Herndon and turn right at the bottom of the off-ramp (on to Herndon), proceed right on Van Ness. Then, turn left on Alluvial and The Club is on your right-hand side. 2626 West Alluvial Fresno, CA.
