FRESNO, Calif. - With his trophy case ever expanding, junior kicker Kevin Goessling has been selected the National Placekicker College Performer of the Week by College Football Performance.com.
He made all three of his field goal attempts 47, 30 and 35 yards in Fresno State's victory over Idaho Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium. The reigning first-team All-WAC kicker, Goessling has been named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award the last two seasons. He ranked ninth in the NCAA in field goals, 1.64 per game, and is 30th nationally in scoring 9.3 points per game.
Goessling's three field goals against Idaho gave him 48 for his career, passing Derek Mahoney (1990-93) for third-most in Bulldog history. Goessling has made 48-of-60 field goals in his career. Next on the list is No. 2 Asen Asparuhov who made 55 from 2000-02. "Kevin has proven that he's one of the nation's best," said head coach Pat Hill.
"Despite playing in tough weather conditions he was steady and committed and he was a big part of our win over Idaho."
"We Are Your Team!" Fresno State concludes the regular season on Friday Dec. 3 at 7:15 p.m. against Big Ten foe Illinois. Tickets for the game can be purchased by clicking the tickets icon at the top of this page.
