FRESNO, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference named sophomore Bianca Modoc the Verizon WAC Tennis Player of the Month for November on Wednesday.
Modoc went 3-0 in singles with a dominant victory, 6-0, 6-1, against Portland State's Kylea Gleason, on the first day of competition at the Bulldog Classic. Her victories continued as she defeated Portland State's Marina Todd with a prevailing victory, 6-1, 6-1. Her challenge came on the final day, as she battled and defeated Saint Mary's Laurie Gingras 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
As impressive as Modoc's singles record was, her doubles record was even better. Modoc finished the Bulldog Classic a perfect 6-0 in doubles play, as she paired up with numerous partners throughout the tournament.
The Bulldog Classic was Modoc's first tournament of the 2010-11 season.
"The Bulldog Classic was a successful event, everyone was able to compete in a ton of matches and earn wins," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "We want to make it bigger next year and I was proud to see Bianca Modoc have great composure in all her matches, despite the fatigue and injuries."
"We Are Your Team" - The Bulldogs have concluded their fall season and will pick up competition in January at the California Winter Invitational at Berkley, Calif. For all the up to date information on Fresno State women's tennis stay logged on to gobulldogs.com
