Patel Wins Second Straight WAC Award

FRESNO, Calif. - The awards keep rolling in for one of the nation's hottest golfers.
Bulldog sophomore Bhavik Patel won his second straight Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week award.
In his young career he's been selected the WAC Player of the Week three times and the WAC Golfer of the Month, which is presented in the fall season, once.
Patel, from Bakersfield, Calif. (Bakersfield HS), claimed medalist honors at the University of San Diego Callaway Invitational last week. Patel won the tournament by three strokes after shooting 8-under par (69-70-69--208) and was the only player in the field to break par in each of the three rounds. His victory helped the Bulldogs to their second consecutive third-place team finish.
Other men nominated: Taeksoo Kim, Boise State; and Tanner Higham, Utah State.
Hawaii's Corie Hou was the women's winner. Fresno State's Chelsea Czinski was also nominated.
