`Dogs End Weekend vs. No. 1 Washington

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The No. 19 Fresno State softball ended its play in the Cathedral City Classic with a 10-2 loss in eight innings to No. 1 Washington Saturday night.
The `Dogs are 9-4 on the season while Washington improves to 10-1.
Washington took a 5-0 lead in the first off of Bulldog pitcher Morgan Melloh who falls to 5-3 on the year. Melloh allowed four runs, three earned and two home runs. Washington home runs came from Danielle Lawrie and Nikki Williams.
Mackenzie Oakes entered in relief and allowed one run in the first.
Back-to-back hits with two outs in the fifth by Lisamarie Coronado and Nicole Angene broke up Lawrie's perfect game. A double by Courtney Moore to left center scored two to get the `Dogs on the board 5-2.
Washington would end the game in the fifth with five more runs, including a home run by Jen Salling off of Michelle Moses.
