`Dogs Down Titans 4-1

FULLERTON, Calif. - Fresno State improved to 1-1 in the Judi Garman Classic with a 4-1 victory over the host Titans at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Softball Complex on Thursday night. The `Dogs improve to 17-10 on the year.
Haley Gilleland led off the game with a single. She stole second base and reached third on a groundout by Andrea Ortega. A single to left field by Courtney Moore gave the `Dogs a 1-0 lead.
With one out in the first, Morgan Melloh replaced Mackenzie Oakes in the circle. Oakes allowed no runs on one hit with one strikeout.
K.C. Craddick scored from third base on an illegal pitch in the first to tie the game.
Becca Walker walked to lead off the fourth and Brooke Phipps reached on an error. A single by Ortega up the middle loaded the bases. A four-pitch to Courtney Moore by Titan pitcher Ari Cervantez drove in the go-ahead run for the `Dogs.
A single by Caitlin Stiglich drove in two more as the `Dogs went out to a 4-1 lead.
Melloh got the win to improve to 9-7 on the year. She had 11 strikeouts in the game and allowed just two hits in 6.2 innings.
The `Dogs take on Virginia at 3:45 p.m. on Friday as head coach Margie Wright goes for her 1,200 school victory. Live stats will be available at www.gobulldogs.com.
Vote Now for the All-Decade Team
Fresno State Athletics is giving its fans a chance to vote for their favorite student-athletes from the past decade (2000-2009) in baseball and softball. Voting is open from March 8-21 and the results will be announced on March 23 and March 24.
The only requirement to be named to the team is that a student-athlete must have competed at least two years in the decade. Fans will also have a chance to write-in their own candidate in each position if desired.

"We Are Your Team" - The `Dogs will continue play at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton on Friday, March 19th when they face Virginia and on Saturday the 20th when they oppose DePaul.
