`Dogs Conclude Series Saturday in Hawai'i

HONOLULU - Fresno State dropped game one of the three-game series vs. Hawai'i at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Complex on Friday night 5-0. Fresno State drops to 33-15 on the year and 12-4 in the WAC.
Hawai'i improves to 40-11 overall and 18-0 in the WAC and clinched the regular season title. Fresno State remains in second place.
Hawai'i got on the board with a two-run home run in the first inning by Jenna Rodriguez. Jessica Iwata scored after she walked.
The first hit for the `Dogs was a bloop single into right center field in the second inning by Lisamarie Coronado. The second hit came from Courtney Moore in the fourth.
After a single by Iwata in the third, a two-run home run by Melissa Gonzalez put the Rainbow Wahine up 4-0.
Katie Grimes hit a solo home run to left center in the fourth as Hawai'i went up 5-0.
Hawai'i threatened to take the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and two outs, but Michelle Moses struck out Amanda Tauli'i to end the inning.
Moses had seven strikeouts and allowed five earned runs on five hits. She drops to 8-1 on the year.
Stephanie Ricketts was the winning pitcher for Hawai'i and improves to 21-6 on the year. She allowed just two hits and had three strikeouts.
