`Dogs Remain Home, Host Utah State

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team remains home at Bulldog Diamond this weekend to host Utah State in its second-straight WAC series Friday-Saturday. Game one is set for Friday at 6 p.m. following by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The `Dogs are 25-13 on the year and 4-2 in WAC play, good enough for second place in the standings. After going 4-1 last week with a sweep of UC Santa Barbara and winning two of three vs. Boise State, the `Dogs are receiving three more votes in the NFCA top 25 poll.
Scouting Utah State
Utah State is having a much improved season under first-year head coach Carissa Millsap-Kalaba. The Aggies are 14-17 overall and 3-4 in WAC play, currently in fifth place in the conference standings. The Aggies lost a two-game series to No. 25 Hawai'i earlier this week. The third game was snowed out. Utah State is led by Simone Hubbard who is hitting .344 with a .574 slugging percentage. Kali Cancelosi also hits above .300 (.343). Kelley Kaneshiro has a team-high eight home runs and 24 RBIs. In the circle, Kate Greenough leads the way having pitched 90.2 innings with 67 strikeouts, a 4.40 ERA and a 7-8 record. Fresno State leads the overall series 22-11 having won the last nine meetings since 2006. Utah State's last win over the `Dogs was a 4-1 decision in 2001. Utah State has never defeated the `Dogs since both teams have been members of the WAC.
Cancer Awareness/Blood Drive Night
Fresno State softball is once again partnering with the American Cancer Society and the Central California Blood Center at the game vs. Utah State on Friday, April 9 at 6 p.m.
The 10th Annual Jenny Eller Blood Drive Challenge concludes this week at the game. Fans are encouraged to donate blood and they will receive a 2010 Fresno State softball commemorative t-shirt and a game ticket discount. Fans can donate prior to the game in the blood mobile outside of Bulldog Diamond from 4-8 p.m. Fans can also donate at the following locations: Jenny Eller Donor Center, Fresno Donor Center, North Fresno Donor Center, Visalia Donor Center and the Porterville Donor Center.
Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 years old with written parental permission). Senior citizens are encouraged to donate, as there is no upper age limit. Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to their donation. The American Cancer Society will be in attendance with tables set up inside the concourse. There, fans can get information on how to prevent cancer and sign up for the annual Relay for Life Event. This year's Fresno State Relay for Life is Saturday, May 8th at 9 a.m. and runs until Sunday, May 9th at 9 a.m. Fans can sign up to participate in the event or donate. Survivors can also sign up to be a part of the event.

`Dogs Win Second-Straight WAC Series
The `Dogs won their second-straight WAC series by winning two of the three games vs. Boise State at Bulldog Diamond April 2-3. Michelle Moses led the `Dogs to a victory in game one with a 5-0 shutout. It was her first career WAC win as she tied a career-high with 12 strikeouts. Moses picked up her first career save in the final and deciding game of the series.
`Dogs Win Opening WAC Series
Fresno State went 2-1 after opening WAC weekend, taking two games out of the three game series vs. rival Nevada in Reno, Nev. Fresno State handed the Wolf Pack their first conference series loss at home since 2007. Michelle Moses led the `Dogs in the circle with a 1-0 record and 1.75 ERA. In game one of the series, she allowed just one run in 5.0 innings while striking out eight in the 4-1 victory. The `Dogs took game two 8-5 and fell 7-5 in game three. Andrea Ortega led the `Dogs at the plate hitting a team-high .636 with seven hits, five doubles, 12 total bases and a 1.091 slugging percentage. As a team, the `Dogs set a school record with seven doubles in game three.

Live stats are available for every game during the season, both home and away, for free and will be provided via gametracker at www.gobulldogs.com. Live audio will be provided for free at www.gobulldogs.com for all road games with Alyssa Chambers calling the action. All Fresno State home games can be heard live on 790 the Deuce, ESPN Radio with Guy Haberman calling all of the action from Bulldog Diamond. All WAC doubleheaders on Saturday's will be aired live. Friday night WAC home games will not be on radio. Fresno State fans now have the opportunity to watch live video streaming of all home softball games for a small free via Fresno State All-Access. Fans can purchase the package and watch live events for many Fresno State sports including press conferences and special features.
