Moses Posts 13 Strikeouts in Win

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team took game one of the three-game Western Athletic Conference series vs. Utah State at Bulldog Diamond Friday night with a 4-1 victory. The `Dogs improve to 26-13 and 5-2 in the WAC while Utah State falls to 14-17 and 3-5.
Michelle Moses singled to left field, followed by a single to right by Caitlin Stiglich to get the rally started for the `Dogs in the fourth inning. A single by Coronado to left field gave the `Dogs a 1-0 lead.
A Nicole Angene single to left drove in pinch runner Kaylan Pollard for the second run of the game. A walk to Becca Walker loaded the bases for Brooke Phipps who got hit by a pitch for a 3-0 lead.
Angene hit her fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the sixth to extend the Bulldog lead to 4-0.
Tina Ferguson got the Aggies on the board in the top of the seventh with a solo home run to left field.
Moses got the win in the circle for the `Dogs, improving to 6-0 and 3-0 in WAC play. She posted a career-high 13 strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits with one walk.
"I tried to keep the ball on the corners today and I was working on it all week," Moses said. "It's nice to go out and pitch when your team has that lead. I felt good today and everything was in place."
Kate Greenough got the loss for the Aggies to drop to 7-9 on the year. She allowed four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings with one walk and one strikeout.
The `Dogs had seven hits in the game, led by Stiglich and Angene with two each.
