Petukhova Named to Academic All-District Team

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Anastasia Petukhova was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team on Thursday.
It marked the second time in her career she received Academic All-District honors, as last season she was named to the All-District VII second team.
"I'm happy to receive this award and represent Fresno State on such a high level," Petukhova said. "Along with tennis, classes were my main priority and it's amazing to receive recognition for that."
Petukhova has a 3.91 cumulative GPA at Fresno State, while majoring in business entrepreneurship and she plans on owning her own business upon completion of her college career.
Last season she was the female recipient of the prestigious Harold Haak Scholarship awarded to a Fresno State student athlete in their junior year.
On the court she was among the most successful tennis players in Fresno State history.
She was a two-time NCAA All-American in doubles, one half of the 2009 ITA National Doubles Team of the Year, a 2008 NCAA All-American and she helped the Bulldogs win three-straight WAC Championships and advance to three-straight NCAA Sweet 16s while at Fresno State.
She has one more appearance to make in a Bulldog uniform, as she competes in the NCAA Singles Championships in Athens, Ga., on May 26-31.
