Pre-Game Notes
Fresno State captains: 7, 8, 77
Fresno State won the toss, deferred. Ole Miss chose to receive and the Bulldogs will defend the North goal.
Senior Bryce Harris made his 30th consecutive start at left tackle for the bulldogs.
1st Quarter
Kyle Knox had a three-yard tackle for a loss on the third play from scrimmage. It came on a third-and-four.
Derek Carr hit Jalen Saunders for a 38-yard completion on Fresno State's first play from scrimmage. It was the duo's fifth completion this year of 35 yards or longer.
Devon Wylie returned a punt 31 yards at 10:03, setting up Fresno State with a first-and-10 at the Ole Miss 17-yard line. It was his fourth punt return this year of 30 or more yards.
Derek Carr hit Rashad Evans for a two-yard touchdown pass at 8:08. It was Evans' second TD of the year and sixth of his career.
Jalen Saunders took a reverse handoff and ran 26-yards for his first career rushing touchdown 14 seconds before the end of the quarter. It was the second-longest rush of his career, behind his 36-yard run at San Jose State last season. Saunders now has a first quarter touchdown in each of the past three games and four total first quarter touchdowns in that time.
2nd Quarter
Isaiah Green had a five-yard tackle for a loss on a third-and-five at the Fresno State 38-yard line on Mississippi's first possession of the second quarter. It was his third tackle for a loss this year.
Robbie Rouse's second-quarter fumble was just the second fumble of his career. It came on his 401st career carry.
Saunders took another reverse at 4:42 and ran 31 yards to give Fresno State a first-and-goal at the Rebel six-yard line. The Bulldogs came away with no points on the drive however, as an 11-yard sack on Carr push the `Dogs back and then Fresno State missed a 32-yard field goal.
Fresno State outgained the Rebels 264-203 in the first half and had the ball for 17:21 compared to Ole Miss' 12:39.
3rd Quarter
Isaiah Burse returned the kickoff to open the second half 34 yards. It was his longest kickoff return this season.
Jalen Sauders went over 100-yards receiving on his 46-yard reception at 13:12. He becomes the first Bulldog receiver since Bernard Berrian in 2001 to have three-straight 100-yard receiving games.
Robbie Rouse scored on a seven-yard run at 13:01 to five Fresno State the lead, 21-20. It was his 16th career rushing touchdown.
Robbie Rouse's 21 carry of the game at pushed him over 100-yards rushing in the game. It was his fourth-straight 100-yard rushing game and the eighth of his career.
4th Quarter
Kyle Knox went over 10 tackles in the game early in the fourth quarter for his third-career double-digit tackle game.
