Red & White Hoops Night Tomorrow

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's basketball programs kickoff the 2011-12 season with its annual Red & White Hoops Night on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center.
Red Wave fans get a free chance to meet the Bulldogs and see them in action for the first time this season. The night will start with the women's team scrimmage. The Bulldogs will scrimmage for 10 minutes and fans will hear about the upcoming season from head coach Adrian Wiggins.
"This is a great chance for fans to come out and see both the men's and women's programs," said Wiggins. "They are both hardworking programs. I think that are fans will be very excited and I know we are very excited to show our fans our new layers."
Up next, the men's team will take the court and scrimmage for 10 minutes. While the men scrimmage, Red Wave fans will hear from head coach Rodney Terry on the new era of Bulldog basketball.
"This is such an exciting time for us and we're looking forward to meeting the Red Wave tomorrow night," Terry said. "Our goal is for our program to mirror our community - a hard-working team that competes night in and night out. The guys have worked very hard in the offseason getting stronger and in shape for the season, and have really become a great Bulldog family."
Following the scrimmages, both teams will hit the hardwood for the annual three-point contest. The Bulldog who makes the most threes in 60 seconds wins the 2011-12 three-point crown, The reigning three-point champion is women's basketball's Alex Furr, who scored 18 points total. Jonathan Wills followed and was a close second after scoring 17 points.
The final event of the night will be the dunk contest featuring several student-athletes from the men's team. Each Bulldog will have two minutes to complete a dunk and a panel of judges will score the best two dunks.
Last year, former Bulldog Bennie Rhodes walked away as the dunk champion at the end of the night.
At the conclusion of the night fans will get the chance to meet and greet with both teams. Autograph cards will be handed out for players to sign.
The women's team starts the 2011-12 season with an exhibition game on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center against Fresno Pacific. The men also jump start the season against Fresno Pacific with an exhibition game on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. Tickets for both events are $5.
