'Dogs Host New Mexico State Aggies

FRESNO, Calif. - After a season-best eight MVP honors last weekend, the Bulldogs return to their home arena Saturday for a West Region showdown with rival New Mexico State. It's the first home show of the 2011 fall season, and the way these `Dogs are riding will make for an exciting and competitive day at the Student Horse Center.

New Mexico State Equestrian: The Aggies are1-0 on the season defeating West Texas A&M.
'Dogs Take Second At Willis Invitational
After the Bulldogs defeated South Dakota State in Round Two 9-6, Fresno State fell short to Baylor in Round Three 10-6 to conclude the tournament with the `Dogs earning a second place finish. Kimberly Hewson Budnik received four MVP honors at the tournament. With great consistency throughout the weekend averaging a score of 81, Hewson Budnik earned a Round Three-high score of 86 recording the only point for the `Dogs on the Flat against Baylor. Captain Holly Elsbernd won all three of her points at The Willis Invitational.
Mustangs Jump Past 'Dogs
The Bulldogs took the early lead in Equitation on the Flat leading 3-2, but eventually fell to the SMU Mustangs 7-4. This was the first English-only event of the season for the 'Dogs as SMU does not have a Western team.
'Dogs Sting Hornets, Fall To Aggies
The Bulldogs wrapped up their season opening weekend with a win in Dover, Del. against Delaware State defeating them 9-6, after falling to Texas A&M 12-2 earlier in the morning.Riding against the Hornets, Holly Elsbernd took the only win in Equitation on the Flat for Fresno State scoring an event-high score of 78. Elsbernd scored an event-high 83 in Equitation over Fences earning her first MVP honor of the season. Fresno State's Hewson Budnik and Beezley were the two riders to earn points for the Bulldogs against Texas A&M.
'Dogs Fall Short In Season Opener
The Fresno State Equestrian team opened their 2011-12 season riding against the South Carolina Gamecocks in a head-to-head contest where the `Dogs were defeated 16-3.Roworth, Koch and Crivelli were the three Bulldogs to earn wins for Fresno State.
The Fall Derby Party
The Fresno State equestrain team is hosting its annual fundraiser The Fall Derby Party at the Clovis Rodeo grounds on Saturday, October 29th. There will be live and silent auctions, music and dancing, great food and drinks. All of the proceeds benefit the Fresno State equestrian team. Bulldogs Name 2011-12 Captains
The Fresno State equestrian team announced its 2011-12 captains at their end of the year banquet in spring. The team has four brand new captains representing each of the events that the team competes in. Leading the team for this season will be Holly Elsbernd, Lauren Carr, Shawna McClurg, and Sammie Jo Stone. Lauren Carr will be a junior representing the team in Equitation on the Flat. Shawna McClurg will be leading the Bulldogs in the Reining event for her senior year. Sammie Jo Stone will be representing the Horsemanship team for her senior year. Holly Elsbernd will be leading the team in Equitation over Fences her senior season as a bulldog.
"We Are Your Team!"- The Fresno State equestrian is competing at home this Saturday, Oct. 8 against New Mexico State.
