FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head women's basketball coach Adrian Wiggins inked two student-athletes during the early signing period. Both Toni Smith and Destini Price have signed valid National Letters of Intent to play with the Bulldogs.
Wiggins returned to his roots in findings one of his latest addition to the Bulldog roster. Smith, a native of Del City, Okla., has signed with the `Dogs for 2012-13.
"Toni is a very aggressive and physical player that will add some depth to our post position," said Wiggins. "She comes from a winning program and should fit in nicely with our current Bulldog team."
A 6-0 center, Smith played for Del City High School and made the game winning basketball at the buzzer that qualified her team for the Oklahoma State Tournament. She was a first-team all-state selection by the Daily Oklahoman as a junior and a third-team selection for the same award as a sophomore.
As a junior, Smith averaged 11 points and almost nine rebounds per game for the Eagles. During her freshman campaign, Smith helped Del City High School to a state championship.
Wiggins' second signee, Price, hails from Lancaster, Calif. The 6-0 forward played for Antelope Valley High School. Price was ranked 46th in the nation among guards by espn.com and hoopgurlz.com. Price is a versatile player that shoots the ball well for her size.
"Destini is a talented 3pt shooter with the ability to play several positions on the floor," said Wiggins. "She is highly ranked nationally and a great California signee for our Fresno State Women's basketball program."
Price averaged 13 points, two assists and 6.5 rebounds per game as a junior. She was also named second-team all-section.
