FRESNO, Calif. - What better way to find out where your team is at training wise than to put together a little friendly competition? A competition like the annual Turkey Trials.
"The time schedule is made up of events conducive to a low volume, high intensity practice. As the old saying goes, there is no better practice than competition," Head Coach Scott Winsor said.
The men's and women's track and field team will host an inter-squad competition, Friday afternoon at Warmerdam Field. The coaches put together two evenly matched teams and the student-athletes will compete against each other.
"The student-athletes have fun, but also take it very serious. It gives the winning team bragging rights for a full year," Winsor said.
Turkey Trials are a long time tradition for the track and field programs. It is not a full meet schedule but one that will tell the coaches where their student-athletes are at in training.
The women's indoor season begins January 20 at the Run for the Dream meet at the Save Mart Center and the outdoor track and field season begins March 3.
