`Dogs Head to the Lone Star State

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball hits the road the week of Thanksgiving to participate in the Hoops for the Cure Tournament hosted by Southern Methodist. The Bulldogs along with SMU, Tennessee State and Cal State Fullerton are all in the tournament. The `Dogs first game of the tournament is Nov. 25 against Tennessee State.
Fresno State vs. Tennessee State
This is the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Tigers in school history. It is also the first time head coach Adrian Wiggins will face a team from the Ohio Valley Conference.
Scouting the Tigers
Tennessee State is 2-2 on the season and last weekend went 2-0 against Lipscomb and Cumberland. Jasmin Shuler is averaging 18.3 points per game. She also has six steals and eight assists. Shuler is 15-of-34 from beyond the arc. Destiney Gaston leads the team in rebounds with 21 and averaging 5.2 per game.
Sheedy Double Trouble
Freshman Alex Sheedy recorded the first double-doulbe of the season for the Bulldogs. She scored a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds against Cal Poly. Sheedy's 10 rebounds was a team-high for the game. The `Dogs beat Cal Poly 79-76 on the road on Nov. 20, 2011.
On The Road Again
The Bulldogs play 17 games on the road this season and are 2-1, so far away from the Save Mart Center. The `Dogs' next two games are on the road. Fresno State travels to SMU for a tournament over Thanksgiving. Last season, the Bulldogs compiled a road record of 11-3.
`Dogs For 1-2-3
The Bulldogs are averaging 10 3-pointers a game this season. The `Dogs hit 47 percent of their three's against Santa Clara on Nov. 13. Fresno State drained 13 treys against Pepperdine on Nov. 18. Junior Roise Moult leads the team with 16 three's so far this year. Last season, Moult hit 98 3-pointers, which was second most on the team.
"We Are Your Team!"-- The Bulldogs travel to Texas next week for the SMU Tournament Nov. 25-26. The `Dogs face Tennessee State in the first round of the tournament. Fresno State returns to the Save Mart Center on Dec. 1 to host Oregon. For more information on tickets call 278-DOGS.
