Time For A Rematch!
Fresno State heads to Ruston, La., on Saturday for a game that has huge WAC title implications. The Lady Techsters hold a one-game lead over the Bulldogs in the conference standings, thanks to their 94-92 triple overtime win over Fresno State on Jan. 13 at the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs have won seven of their past eight games, including four in a row, and are 7-2 on the road this season.
Scouting The Lady Techsters
Louisiana Tech has gone through the first half of conference play unscathed and undefeated. The Lady Techsters are riding an eight-game winning streak and are currently receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll (they are in 30th place in this week's poll). Louisiana Tech is coming off a 93-86 win over Boise State, in which Adrienne Johnson scored 21 points. The team hasn't lost since falling to Marquette 83-75 on Dec. 30.
The Series vs. LA Tech
The Louisiana Tech-Fresno State rivalry has blossomed into one of the strongest in the WAC. The Bulldogs are 8-16 all-time against the Lady Techsters, and while Fresno State swept the regular season in 2009-10, it comes into Saturday's game with revenge on its mind. After all, Louisiana Tech beat the Bulldogs in triple overtime last month 94-92, snapping their 20-game WAC winning streak. The Lady Techsters also nipped Fresno State 68-66 in last season's WAC Tournament championship game, snapping its 19-game winning streak.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs kicked off their three-game road trip in fine fashion Saturday, beating Nevada 72-51. Senior forward Hayley Munro finished with 19 points, tying her season high. She was 9-for-10 from the free-throw line and also had eight rebounds. Senior guard Jaleesa Ross, already the all-time leading scorer in program history, finished with 14 points, three assists and two steals. Ross now has 222 career steals, good enough for second on the Bulldogs' all-time steals list. She needs just three more to pass former Fresno State star Wendy Martell as the program's steals leader. With her six made field goals against the Wolf Pack, Ross became the Bulldogs' career leader with 648 made field goals.
