FRESNO, Calif. - Four players scored for the Fresno State women's lacrosse team on Thursday afternoon, but the varied effort wasn't enough, as the Bulldogs fell to Saint Mary's College 15-4 at Bulldog Stadium.
The Gaels jumped out to an 8-3 halftime lead and never looked back, outshooting Fresno State 32-13 and leaving the squad still in search of its first win of the season. Rachel Minarovich, Amanda Cross, Heather Jack and Briana Hetherington scored for the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3 MPSF).
Jillian Chong scored four goals for Saint Mary's College, which picked up its first win of the season.
Fresno State struck first when Cross found the back of the net with 20:29 left in the first half. But the Gaels (1-4, 1-2) thwarted the Bulldogs' promising start by eventually going on a 4-0 run.
"We Are Your Team!" -- Fresno State continues its three-game homestand Tuesday against Navy. The action begins at 4 p.m.
