Dogs Face WAC Competitor

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 70 Fresno State women's tennis team (5-9, 2-0 WAC) looks to add another victory to its undefeated Western Athletic Conference record this season. The Dogs will travel to Logan, Utah this week to take on WAC foe Utah State (7-3, 0-1 WAC). The Dogs are currently 2-0 in conference play and Utah State is 0-1.
The Dogs is currently the highest ranked WAC women's tennis team at No. 70.
Fresno State boasts No. 99 singles player Marianne Jodoin.
Last Time
Over the past weekend, the Dogs traveled to San Diego to compete against Illinois and No. 23 San Diego. Unfortunately due to inclement weather the match between Fresno State and Illinois was canceled and has not been rescheduled. On Saturday's match against No. 23 San Diego, the Dogs were defeated by the Torero's, 6-1. Doubles team, Melissa McQueen and Olga Kirpicheva defeated Laura Claus and Josymar Escalona on court two, 9-7. In singles, No. 99 singles player Marianne Jodoin earned the only point for the Bulldogs in the day defeating No. 74 singles player Stephanie Hoffpauir. Competing on court one Jodoin earned a straight-set victory, 6-4, 6-4.
History Between Teams
It will be the third meeting ever between Fresno State and Utah State. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series over the Aggies, 2-0 with the Dogs defeating the Aggies 4-1 in 2010 and 7-0 in 2009.
Taking a Look at Utah State
Utah State's past two matches, scheduled against San Francisco and WAC competitor San Jose State, were canceled due to inclement weather. Prior to past two matches, the Aggies defeated Big Sky competitor Weber State, 5-2. The Aggies have been victorious in six of their last seven matches.
