FRESNO, Calif. - No. 71 Fresno State women's tennis (6-11, 3-0 WAC) began its northern California road trip with a match against the undefeated No. 1 Stanford (20-0, 6-0 Pac-10) Friday afternoon in Palo Alto, Calif. Stanford came away with a 7-0 victory.
Doubles team, Laura Pola and Marianne Jodoin battled hard on court number one against the nationally ranked No. 2 doubles team Hilary Barte and Mallory Burdette. The Cardinal's topped the Dogs, 8-4. Bianca Modoc and Abby Hayley took on Veronica Li and Stacey Tan on court three, the Dogs earned four games on them but Stanford took the lead and clinched the doubles point.
In singles, Melissa McQueen proved tough against No. 17 singles player Krisite Ahn. Earning the first set to her advantage, Ahn rallied back and took the second set pushing them into a third set. Stanford earned the victory, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 1-0 (3).
No. 71 Fresno State continues its road trip in the bay area to Berkley, Calif. to take on No. 10 California tomorrow afternoon.
