Dogs Face Notre Dame in NCAA Regional

FRESNO, Calif. - The NCAA announced the 62nd-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team will take on No. 20 University of Notre Dame for the first round of the NCAA Regional on Friday May 13 in Evanston, Ill. The winner of the Fresno State-Notre Dame match will face the winner of the match between host No. 16 Northwestern and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
These two teams have never met up before.
"We are happy to be a third seed team," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "We're excited to be playing a good Notre Dame team that we don't play often."
Last weekend the No. 72 Bulldogs were named the Western Athletic Conference champions after a nerve-racking victory over No. 70 Boise State.
The Irish also made an appearance in its Big East Conference Tournament championship match, earning its fourth-straight conference championship.
Fresno State boasts No. 58 singles player Marianne Jodoin, who was recently named WAC player of the year and WAC freshman of the year.

First Round -- Friday, May 13
10 a.m.: Notre Dame vs. Fresno State
1 p.m.: #16 Northwestern vs. Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne
Second Round -- Saturday, May 14
Noon: Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2
