FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State swimming and diving head coach Jeanne Fleck announced the signing of Lucy Titchin to a National Letter of Intent. Titchin attends Millfield Boarding School in England and will be joining the team for the 2011-2012 season.
"We are so excited to have Lucy join our new freshman and join our team," Fleck said. "She will come in and help all our relays and give us a one-two punch with Dani (Yoho) in the sprint free events."
Titchin has competed in some of the top international events for her age group and boasts some pretty impressive times. Some of her best events include the 50 free with a time of 23. 89, the 100 free at 50.72, the 200 free at 1:49.66 and the 500 free at 4:57.70.
Titchin participated on the European Junior Team in 2009 in Prague representing England and won her first national medal in 2007. At Millfield Boarding School she was a national qualifier. She represented England at WISE (Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England) International 2010 in Glasgow and most recently won the 100m Freestyle at the Somerset ASA Championships 2011.
Titchin will be a part of the team's first season in the brand new swimming and diving complex that sits directly east of Bulldog Diamond. Fleck is very excited about the 2011-12 recruiting class and is definitely looking forward competing in the new aquatic center at Fresno State.
"We should have just a great year in the new pool," Fleck said. "What a way to start it out!"
