Equestrian Reveals 2011-2012 Schedule

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's English head coach Julia Scrivani and Western head coach Stephanie Reeves announced the release of the 2011-12 equestrian schedule and the excitement is growing for the season with the return of strong, competitive team members and refreshing new opponents.
"I'm entering this season with great excitement as I feel we have both a schedule and a team that is balanced," said Reeves. "We have returning team members with experience and drive as well as new riders who are joining with talent and enthusiasm."
"Our 2011-2012 schedule is exciting because we travel to teams we have not seen in some time," said Scrivani. "We compete against Baylor, Delaware State, and Auburn on neutral ground at New Mexico."
The Fresno State equestrian team will open its 2011-12 campaign by taking a trip to the East coast to ride against South Carolina on Sept. 23 and Delaware State and Texas A&M on Sept. 24.
On Oct. 8, Fresno State will host its first home meet against New Mexico State University, after competing on the road against Southern Methodist University, Miami of Ohio, South Dakota State University, and Baylor.
On Oct. 29, the 'Dogs will host a head-to-head contest against Stanford.
After the Bulldogs travel to the Winter Equestrian Festival in early February, they will host TCU and the University of Tennessee-Martin on Feb. 18-19 for The Best in the West Invitational at the Student Horse Center.
The 'Dogs will make the trip to Athens, Ga. to compete against Baylor and UGA on Feb. 25-26. Fresno State then returns home for a weekend of team scrimmages before galloping on the road again to ride against New Mexico State and Auburn.
The equestrian team concludes its season April 12-14 with a weekend in Waco, Texas at Nationals.
The equestrian team will hold a total of four home team scrimmages on Sept. 10, Jan. 28, and the weekend of March 3-4.
