`Dogs Start 2012 on the Road

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team rings in 2012 with a two-game road trip. The Bulldogs face UT-Arlington on Jan. 3 at 5 p.m. and end the road trip in Las Vegas against UNLV on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.
Fresno State vs. UT-Arlington
Fresno State is 1-0 against the Mavericks in school history. The first meeting between the two programs was in 1987. The Bulldogs beat UT-Arlington 78-49 in the first meeting.
Scouting the Mavericks
UT-Arlington is 2-8 on the season and picked up its second win of the season on Dec. 31 over Houston Baptist. Freshman Takiyah Langford led the team with 20 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds against the Huskies.
Fresno State vs. UNLV
Fresno State will join UNLV in the Mountain West Conference next season. The Bulldogs have beaten the Rebel in the past five meetings dating back to 1997. UNLV leads the overall series 14-7.
Scouting the Lady Rebels
UNLV is 10-4 on the season and coming off a 62-58 loss to the Pac 12's Arizona. Kelli Thompson is averaging a team-high 12.9 points per game. Jamie Smith leads the team in rebounds grabbing 8.5 per game. The Lady Rebels are averaging 60.5 points and 42.6 rebounds per game.
On The Road Again
The Bulldogs play 17 games on the road this season and are 4-2 so far away from the Save Mart Center. Fresno State is also 1-0 in neutral territory. The 'Dogs' next hit the road Jan. 3-6 facing UT-Arlington and UNLV. Last season, the Bulldogs compiled a road record of 11-3.
