Bulldogs Open 2012 With Team Scrimmage

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State equestrian team is riding back into action, kicking off 2012 with a team scrimmage on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Fresno State Student Horse Center at 9 a.m. The Bulldogs trained hard over the winter break and are ready for the second half of their season. This will be a Red vs. Blue team scrimmage held to prepare the riders for all remaining 2012 competitions.

The Bulldogs (4-4) went undefeated at home during the fall season.
Kimberly HewsonBudnik leads the team with the most MVP honors earned (5).
Fresno State was ranked in the top 10 National Coaches' Poll three times during the fall season.
Collegiate equestrian is now governed by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association.
Fresno State equestrian will host Texas Christian University and University of Tennessee Martin at its annual Best in the West Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19, 2012.
Collegiate Equestrian Makes Progress
In an effort to further advance equestrian to a NCAA championship sport, the entity formally known as Varsity Equestrian has established a new association to become the voice for the sport of equestrian within college athletics. The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) was founded to be the catalyst for growth of varsity level equestrian competition.
No. 10 Bulldogs Win Final Fall Event
In the last competition of the fall season the Bulldogs English team defeated Stanford's English team 9-4 and earned two MVP honors. Senior Kimberly Steinbuch (Equitation on the Flat) and sophomore Belle Calkin (Equitation over Fences) performed the strongest rides at the competition each earning an MVP honor.
The Fall Derby Party
The Fresno State equestrian team hosted its annual fundraiser The Fall Derby Party at the Clovis Rodeo grounds on Saturday, October 29th. There were live and silent auctions, music and dancing, great food and drinks. All of the proceeds benefited the Fresno State equestrian team.
Equestrian Shines In Home Opener Win
The Bulldog equestrian team trounced New Mexico State 15-5 and three Bulldogs picked up MVP honors in Fresno State's home opener at the Student Horse Center on Saturday. The Bulldogs' Lauren Crivelli (Horsemanship), Dayle Fischer (Equitation over Fences) and Macy Wilson (Equitation on the Flat) delivered the top performances on a day that featured strong showings throughout the event.
'Dogs Take Second At Willis Invitational
After the Bulldogs defeated South Dakota State in Round Two 9-6, Fresno State fell short to Baylor in Round Three 10-6 to conclude the tournament with the `Dogs earning a second place finish. Kimberly HewsonBudnik received four MVP honors at the tournament. With great consistency throughout the weekend averaging a score of 81, HewsonBudnik earned a Round Three-high score of 86 recording the only point for the `Dogs on the Flat against Baylor. Captain Holly Elsbernd won all three of her points at The Willis Invitational.
