FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team continues on with its 10-game home stand to start the year when the Bulldogs host Pacific on Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Bulldog Diamond.
This will be the 102nd all-time meeting between the two schools and it is the second longest series that Fresno State has against any other school. Only the 106 games between the Bulldogs and California stands above the Bulldog-Tiger series.
The Bulldogs have a 78-22-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 1978, the programs inaugural season.
Fresno State enters the game with a 3-2 record after hosing five teams in the Fresno State Kick-Off Tournament last weekend. Pacific enters the game with a 0-2 record, losing to a pair of top 20 teams last weekend in Kentucky and UCLA at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament in Los Angeles.
The Bulldogs are looking to end a two-game losing streak, as both losses came in extra innings to Sacramento State and Long Beach State.
Fresno State has already hit six home runs in five games this year, but in three of the five games the Bulldogs only posted one run.
Senior catcher Kaitlin Griffin is responsible for two of the home runs, as she has a team-high six RBIs. Michelle Moses has hit three solo home runs and Courtney Moore hit her first career grand slam in the season-opening victory over Toledo.
In the circle, the Bulldog pitchers have held opponents to a .172 batting average and have 34 strikeouts against nine walks after one weekend of play.
