Garrison Goes Yard in 'Dogs 8-1 Loss

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup to CSU Bakersfield 8-1 on Saturday evening at Beiden Field.
The Bulldogs fell to 16-20 while Bakersfield improved to 18-18 on the season.
Fresno State tallied nine hits during the contest. Freshmen Taylor Tempel and Chris Mariscal both had doubles while junior Trent Garrison slammed his first homer of the season in the eighth.
Despite giving up five runs in the first two frames to the Roadrunners, the Fresno State bullpen put zeros on the board in the third, fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
Sophomore Will Anderson, junior Matt Fontaine and senior Taylor Garrison pitched consecutive scoreless innings to end the ball game.
Freshman Jordan Brink tallied a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 while playing both third and first base, respectively, on defense. The Fresno State pitching staff recorded nine strikeouts.
But CSUB's Jeff McKenzie tossed a 125-pitch complete game for his third win of the year in a strong outing from the hill.
The Bulldogs host Cal Poly on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Beiden Field.
Batesole Honored for 600th Win in Pre-Game Ceremony
Fresno State head baseball coach Mike Batesole was honored in a pre-game ceremony before tonight's game against CSU Bakersfield for reaching 600 career wins.
Batesole posted his 600th win when the Bulldogs beat Cal Poly 5-3 on Tuesday night (April 17) in San Luis Obispo.
