FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football program hosted a pair of summer camps over the last three days at Bulldog Stadium, ranging from high school aged kids to youth all the way down to kindergarten.
"It's been a lot of fun the past couple of days getting kids from the community out here and interacting with them on the football field," head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "It's a great opportunity for us to give back to the community by teaching them the game of football, but more importantly it's about the kids coming out here and having fun."
On Sunday, Fresno State welcomed in campers entering the ninth through 12th grades for the individual skills and technique camp that ran all day. Over 300 high school students came in to learn the techniques and fundamentals of their positions from the Bulldog coaching staff.
Then on Monday and Tuesday evenings, Fresno State hosted the youth football camp for kids in kindergarten all the way through eighth grade. Kids with the local Boys and Girls Club participated in the camp and in all roughly 90 participants came out to Bulldog Stadium each night.
There are still more football camps available this summer. Fresno State is hosting a pair of team camps - the first one runs June 15-18 and the second June 21-24 - and a Kicking Academy that features kicking guru Jamie Kohl on June 19.
