Hey Bulldog fans!
For those of you who don't know, my name is Tanya Murtagh and I am on your Fresno State women's tennis team, currently in my senior year.
These past few years have flown by, but last season was one to remember. We captured the first Mountain West championship title for the program and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
This year we have set our goals high and are working everyday to reach them. Having seven returnees in a program is huge and we have been working hard during this offseason to prepare for the upcoming tournaments this fall.
We have competed in two tournaments thus far, the Nike Cal Invite held at Berkeley and Regionals at Stanford. We have had some good results and with every tournament we are getting better. We have competed against some of the toughest competition in the nation and this is what we are training for.
We have two more tournaments this fall so we are pushing ourselves both on and off the court to be at our best. These tournaments are always good preparation to see where we are at and what we need to work on for the upcoming season. The energy at practice has been great and we are working together to be at ready for season come January.
A few weeks ago we did some team bonding at the local rock-climbing facility. Some people on the team are afraid of heights so it was great to see them get up there and conquer their fears. This is what the Fresno State women's tennis team is all about, taking chances and being loud, risk-takers.
That's all for now, but I will be keeping you updated throughout the semester. GO DOGS!
