This game was completely sold out by kickoff, marking the first home opener since 2008 that Bulldog Stadium was sold out.
Nebraska won the toss, elected to receive. Fresno State to defend the North goal.
The temperature at game time was 99 degrees.
1st Quarter
Nebraska scored on its first drive of the game, a four-play, 82-yard drive. Fresno State's opposition has now scored on its first drive of the game in all three games this year.
Fresno State scored on a safety at 9:09 when Nebraska batted a punt from quarterback Brian Burrell out of the end zone. It marked Fresno State's first safety since Nov. 16, 2010 when the Bulldog defense recorded a safety vs. New Mexico State.
This was the first time this year the Bulldogs got points in the first quarter and the 82 total yards is the most gained in any first quarter this season.
2nd Quarter
Husker De'Mornay Pierson-El returned a punt 86 yards for a touchdown at 9:11. This was the first punt return for a touchdown the Bulldogs have given up since Nov. 22, 2011 when Rishard Matthews also took a punt back 86 yards.
Freshman kicker Kody Kroening made a 27-yard field goal at 2:00, the first of his career.
3rd Quarter
Brian Burrell rushed for a 66-yard touchdown run at 4:42 for Fresno State's first touchdown of the game.
