Fresno State won the toss, deferred to the second half. New Mexico will receive and the Bulldogs will defend the south goal.
1st Quarter
Cornerback Malcolm Washington became the first defensive player to make a start as a true freshman in the Tim DeRuyter era. He is just the fifth true freshmen to make a start since 2010.
Fresno State picked up three first downs on its first three plays of the game. The Bulldog did not pick up a first down on its first drive of the game in each of the first four games this season.
The `Dogs drove down to the UNM 13-yard line on their first drive, the most yards gained (38) on an opening drive, but fumbled the ball away. Fresno State has still yet to score on its opening drive of a game this year.
Marteze Waller had a 43-yard run on the first play of Fresno State's second drive. This is the second week in a row he has posted a rush of over 40 yards (49 vs. Southern Utah).
Inside linebacker Kyrie Wilson had seven tackles in the first quarter.
Fresno State's offense failed to score in the first quarter and has not scored points in the opening 15 minutes this year.
UNM had possession for 10:19 of that first quarter, although the Lobos only ran two more plays than the Bulldogs.
2nd Quarter
Josh Harper caught a 23-yard touchdown pass at 14:20 from Brian Burrell. This is the second-straight game Harper caught a TD pass and the 24th of his career, which is tied for the sixth most among active players..
Brian Burrell was 5-for-6 for 87 yards on Fresno State's last drive of the second half, which he hit Josh Quezada on a 10-yard touchdown catch.
The 287 yards in the first half are the most by the Bulldogs in the opening 30 minutes this season.
3rd Quarter
Marteze Waller went over 100-yards rushing for the second consecutive game on a 17-yard run down to the New Mexico three-yard line on Fresno State's first drive of the quarter. It was Waller's third career 100-yard rushing game.
Brian Burrell threw his third touchdown pass of the game to Greg Watson, a three-yard score. It was the third touchdown hookup this season between Burrell and Watson.
Charles Washington had a one-yard tackle for a loss at the Bulldog 19-yard line on a fourth-and-1 play to give the ball back to Fresno State at 4:05.
Brian Burrell had a 45-yard run on a third-and-1 at midfield at 2:09, his second run this year of 45 or more yards.
Josh Quezada scored on a one-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-goal at 0:56 to give the Bulldogs back the lead.
4th Quarter
Karl Mickelsen set a new season-high in tackles and went over 10 tackles early in the quarter, his third career double-digit tackle game.
Brian Burrell rushed three yards for a touchdown at 11:55, his third career rushing TD and second this season.
Brian Burrell eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark for the first time.
