Head Coach Tim DeRuyter
On the play of his team…
"Our kids have grit. We challenged them to practice hard. They did that. We took care of the ball on offense and we got four take-aways on defense. We played with grit and that's what we have to do."
On the play of Greenlee…
"The thing I was proudest of was that he hung in there. They took some shots at him. He didn't let it phase him. He stood in there and made the reads. Still has to get better, but I think he grew up by hanging in there and being a quarterback. You're going to take some hits and make some throws."
On what the personal foul penalties did for Greenlee…
"I don't know if it kicked him into high gear but he was definitely focusing. He had a really good week of practice. He knew that he was in a competition to start today and I thought he did really well. He came out here and early on they tried to get in his head maybe, but he stood up to it. Sometimes you have to stand up to the bully and feel good about it."
On the play of his defense…
"We have to get back to where we take the ball away. The take-aways, the early one with Jeff [Camilli] and Ejiro [Ederaine] getting the pick and the late one with Tyquwan [Glass] in the end zone took points off the board. All three of those were really big. You play an explosive team, you have to make those plays and it was good to see our guys do that."
On playing on the road…
"Any time you go on the road in conference, it's difficult, especially coming out here. All these things for our young guys are huge to learn and prepare and do the right things, and most importantly come out and execute."
Redshirt Sophomore Quarterback Zack Greenlee
On the game…
"It just feels great seeing the team succeed like that. The defense, Ejiro [Ederaine] making those plays was awesome. It just got everyone fired up. It was a good cap to the week"
On the offense...
"I think we just executed. That was the main thing. We went out there and [the wide receivers] made some great plays. For me to just sit in the pocket and get it to them and watch them go to work is awesome. It's a great game and when it goes like this it's just beautiful."
Senior Outside Linebacker Ejiro Ederaine
On the game…
"I'm really going to take my hat off to teammates. They came out here and played a fundamentally sound game."
On the offense…
"I trust those guys. I see them going hard and I knew it was only a matter of time."
On getting closer to the Mountain West career tackles for loss record…
"I'm going to get that record. I know my name will be attached to it, but that record will be for anybody that I've ever played defense with, from my freshman year when I played three or four games up to now. Any person that's ever lined up with me as a Bulldog, the record will be for them. I'm going to get it for all of us and hopefully I can push it far enough that it will sit up there for awhile."
