Northern, Vazquez Selected Academic All-District

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State offensive linemen Justin Northern and Jacob Vazquez were both named Thursday to the 2015 Academic All-District 8 first-team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Northern and Vazquez both now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The duo mark the fifth and sixth selections under head coach Tim DeRuyter to be named Academic All-District over the last four seasons.
Northern joins Andrew Jackson (2008-10) and Vince Pascoe (2008-10) as recent Bulldogs to be named first-team Academic All-District three times in a career. Northern, who was also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, Wuerffel Trophy and candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, holds a 3.79 GPA in mechanical engineering.
For Vazquez, a 4.0 agricultural business major from Cottonwood, Calif., this is his first selection to the Academic All-District team.
Vazquez has started 6-of-8 games this season while Northern's 35 consecutive starts are the most on any Bulldog on the team.
