'Dogs Open MW Play at Home Versus UNLV

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State opens up Mountain West play on Wednesday night as the Bulldogs host UNLV at 7 p.m., PT at the Save Mart Center. The 'Dogs enter the game having won its previous 11 conference openers. The matchup will stream live online on the Mountain West Network and Christian Lukens will be on the call for 790 AM ESPN "The Deuce."

Bulldog Bites
• Fresno State has won 11 consective conference openers.
• Bego Faz Davalos ranks in the top 10 in the Mountain West in scoring (8th, 13.5 ppg rebounding (1st, 10.8 rpg), field goal percentage (9th, .517), blocked shots (1st, 3.8 bpg), assist/turnover ratio (7th, 1.3), offensive rebounds (2nd, 4.0 rpg) and defensive rebounds (1st, 6.8 rpg)
• On Dec. 8, 2015, Faz Davalos posted the first triple-double in program history with 24 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks in 29 minutes in a 72-49 win over Cal State Stanislaus.
• Faz Davalos' triple-double was the 11th in Mountain West history and first of this season. It was the first triple-double in the conference's history in which a player earned it with double-digit blocks.
• With her three blocks versus San Diego, Faz Davalos moved into sole possession of third place on the Bulldogs' all-time blocks list with 137.
• Three 'Dogs are averaging double-digits through 11 games (Shauqunna Collins, Moriah Faulk, Bego Faz Davalos). Fresno State had just one player average double figures last year.
• Faz Davalos leads the team in both points and rebounds, and is averaging a double-double at 13.5 points and 10.8 rebounds to go along with 3.8 blocks per game.
• Through Dec. 28, Faz Davalos ranked third in the NCAA in blocks (42), second in blocked shots per game (3.8), 24th in double-doubles (5), 17th in rebounds (119) and 16th in rebounds per game (10.8). She ranks first in the Mountain West in each category.
• There are currently 31 players in the country averaging a double-double.
• Faulk is at 11.9 points per game after scoring seven double-digit games and posting a pair of double-doubles this season.
• Collins is currently also at 11.9 points per game. She has reached double figures in eight of her 10 games.
• The Bulldogs have recorded eight double-doubles on the year. As a team, they recorded 12 in each of the past two seasons.
• Specialty stats have been a key to Fresno State's success as the 'Dogs four wins have come when winning in points in the paint, second-chance points, points off turnovers and fast-break points.
Series History with UNLV
• UNLV holds a 16-12 record all-time against Fresno State.
• Despite the Lady Rebels leading the all-time series, the Bulldogs have won 11 of the last 13 games dating back to 1997.
• In last year's only matchup of the season between the two sides, UNLV topped Fresno State 73-70 in overtime at the Save Mart Center on Feb. 11, 2015.
A Look at UNLV
• The Lady Rebels hold a 7-4 record entering Wednesday night's contest but have won just two of their last six games after starting the season 5-0.
• They are averaging 65.1 points per gam. They are just one of two teams in the conference this season to allow under 60 points per game (58.9).
• Four UNLV players are currently averaging double figures in scoring with Brooke Johnson leading the way at 14.6 points per game.
• Center Aley Rhode is second in the Mountain West in rebounding at 9.5 per game.
• Johnson leads the conference in steals, swiping 2.7 per game while Nikki Wheatley ranks fourth at 2.4.
11 Straight
• Fresno State has won 11 straight conference openers, a streak that dates back to the 2004-05 season with a 70-48 win at Hawai'i.
• The program's last loss in a conference opener came in a two-point game at home to Hawai'i (48-46) on Jan. 3, 2005.
Double Down
• The 'Dogs have posted eight double-doubles through 11 games. In each of the past two seasons, the team has recorded just 12 in each season.
• This century, the most double-doubles in a season for a Fresno State team is 18.
• During that span, Omelogo Udeze recorded the most in a season at 13. In her career she posted 30 double-doubles.
• Bego Faz Davalos is on pace to surpass Udeze's single-season mark as she has posted five double-doubles so far.
Leading From the Block
• After leading Mexico at the World University Games during the summer, 6-foot-3 Bego Faz Davalos has quickly become Fresno State's most versatile player. She ranks first on the team in points (13.5), rebounds (10.8), blocks (3.8) and field goal percentage (51.7).
• She has recorded five double-doubles in 11 games which ranks 24th nationally.
• With a career-high 10 blocks versus Cal State Stanislaus, Faz Davalos moved to third in career blocks at Fresno State.
• Her 42 blocks and 3.8 blocks per game this season rank third nationally.
• In the MW, she ranks in the top 15 in scoring (8th), rebounding (1st), field goal percentage (9th), blocks (1st), offensive rebounds (2nd) and defensive rebounds (1st).
Seeing Double
• With double-doubles against Fresno Pacific, Toni Smith (19 points and 12 rebounds) and Bego Faz Davalos (13 points and 13 rebounds) were the first pair of 'Dogs since Jan. 14, 2015 to post double-doubles in the same game when Faz Davalos and Alex Sheedy posted them against San Jose State.
• The pair also put up double-doubles last season at CSU Bakersfield.
• Smith's double-double was the second of her career while it was Faz Davalos' fourth.
• In the 'Dogs' following game against Washington, Faz Davalos again posted a double-double, this time with 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, while senior Moriah Faulk recorded her fourth career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• With two players recording double-doubles against Fresno Pacific (Nov. 17) and Washington (Nov. 20), it was the first time this century that the Bulldogs have had two players perform the feat in back-to-back games.
• Faulk continued the string of double-doubles for the Bulldogs, posting 16 points and 11 rebounds three days later versus No. 24 George Washington.
• Faz Davalos posted her third double-double of the season on Nov. 28 against Northeastern as she scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
• Four days later, Faz Davalos recorded her fourth double-double and second consecutive as she notched 13 points and 12 rebounds versus CSU Bakersfield.
• On Dec. 8, Faz Davalos posted the programs's first triple-double with 24 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks which added to the team's season double-double total.
Balanced Scoring
• During the 2014-15 season, Fresno State had at least four players score in double digits just five times. The Bulldogs had four players in score in double figures in the season opener at UC Riverside.
• Two games later, the Bulldogs had five players in double figures against Washington, a feat that last year's team did just twice.
• Fresno State has had at least four players reach double figures in four of the team's first seven games.
• Three 'Dogs currently average double figures with Shauqunna Collins at 11.9, Bego Faz Davalos at 13.5, and Moriah Faulk at 11.9. Last season, Fresno State had just one player average double figures.
Thriving Off the Bench
• With only four double-figure scoring games during the 2014-15 season, Moriah Faulk has already posted seven double-digit performances, scoring 16 points on three occasions along with a season-high 24 against CSUS.
• The senior has also posted two double-figure rebounding games after only recording five in her career prior to this season.
• Faulk has recorded two of her five career double-doubles within two of the team's first four games of the season.
• On Dec. 5 at Cal Poly, Faulk made just her sixth collegiate start, and first since her sophomore season 2013-14 season.
• She has also been the 'Dogs top threat from beyond the arc at 44.7 percent (17-of-38) which ranks fourth in the MW.
Point of Attack
• After a year in Fresno, Shauqunna Collins has been one of the Bulldogs' top threats through 11 games. With 10 double-figure scoring games last season, Collins has reached double-digits in eight of her 10 games this season.
• The native of Saginaw, Mich., also leads the team with 31 assists and 20 steals at the point guard position.
Getting to the Charity Stripe
• Fresno State ranks 53rd in the country in free throw attempts with 231.
• The team is 48th nationally in free throws made with 165.
• Shauqunna Collins leads the 'Dogs in getting to the free throw line with 47 attempts, while Bego Faz Davalos is second with 43.
