Lacrosse Drops Sunday Game to SDSU

FRESNO,Calif.-- The Fresno State lacrosse team fell to San Diego State 15-4 in a home conference game on the Soccer and Lacrosse Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs stayed in range of the Aztecs during the first half, trailing 8-3 at the break. San Diego State then went on a 7-0 run before Fresno State answered with its final goal of the day with just over four minutes remaining.
Sophomore Caroline Dineen-Carlson led the Bulldogs scoring two of their four goals against in-state Mountain Sports Federation rival SDSU. Dineen-Carlson leads the 'Dogs with 14 goals this season after six games played.
Kyleigh Westgarth and Logan Eisinger found the back of the net once each. Westgarth also recorded a team-high four draw controls for the 'Dogs.
Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Chaffin recorded 10 saves off of the Aztecs 30 shots.
"We need to possess the ball when we have it on attack and execute our game plan," said head coach Jessica Giglio. "We have to focus on draw controls going into next week. We had an off day and they beat us in draws and that is a momentum changer."
Fresno State (2-4, 0-3 MPSF) continues its six game-homestand with two non-conference games this week on the Soccer and Lacrosse Field. The Bulldogs host Bryant on Wednesday March 11 at 3 p.m. and then Winthrop on Sunday, March 15 at noon.
