Bulldogs Land No. 1 Seed at MW Tennis Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Fresno State has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2015 Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship, the Mountain West Conference office announced Monday morning. The Bulldogs, who are the defending MW women's tournament champion and are ranked No. 43 nationally, went 6-0 in MW play and 17-4 overall. It is the second year in a row that the `Dogs have earned the tournament's No. 1 seed.
The 2015 MW Women's Tennis Championship will be heldApril 22-26 at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. First round action beginsWednesday, April 22at 8 a.m. PT, with the quarterfinals onFriday, April 24, starting at 8 a.m. PT. The semifinals will be played onSaturday, April 25at 2 p.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT, with the championship match set for 1 p.m. PT onSunday, April 26. All matches at the 2015 MW Tennis Championships will be broadcast live and for free on the Mountain West Network, powered by Campus Insiders.
New Mexico, host of the 2015 MW Women's Tennis Championship, earned the No. 2 seed. The Lobos finished the regular season with a 13-9 overall record and 4-2 mark in Conference play. San José State (13-6, 3-1) is the No. 3 seed and San Diego State (13-10, 2-2) is the No. 4 seed.
Wyoming (13-5, 5-0) will be the No. 5 seed and Utah State (13-10, 2-3) received the No. 6 seed. Nevada (8-10, 1-4) is the No. 7 seed and Air Force (17-8, 2-4) is the No. 8 seed. Colorado State (8-11, 1-5), Boise State (9-12, 2-4) and UNLV (7-16, 1-4) round out the bracket as the ninth, 10thand 11thseeds, respectively.
Wednesday's first round gets underway at 8 a.m. PT with No. 8 Air Force facing off with No. 9 Colorado State. At 11 a.m. PT, No. 7 Nevada and No. 10 Boise State square off. Utah State, the No. 6 seed and No. 11 UNLV are scheduled for a 2 p.m. PT start.
Quarterfinal play onFriday, April 24begins at 8 a.m. PT with No. 4 San Diego State and No. 5 Wyoming. The Bulldogs will meet the winner of the Falcons/Rams match at 11 a.m., PT. In the afternoon session, the Spartans will play either Utah State or UNLV, while the Lobos will face the winner ofWednesday's match between the Wolf Pack and Broncos at 5 p.m. PT.
